Similarly, a volatile substance such as alcohol or vinegar is referred to as a salt when it is mixed with water.The difference between water and salt has been compared by biologists as the ultimate criterion on which species are distinguished. On this basic difference, there are four type s of salt molecules. Water is considered to be a semi-solid, whereas salt, unlike water, is considered to be a liquid. The surface tension of water is similar to that of a liquid, while salt tends to be quite dense and to be a liquid at any given point of its volume.Generally, all chemical names refer to the physical or chemical properties of a particular substance. The use of chemical symbols such as ''and '' would be used in describing the physical property. Scientists also use the expression '' to represent the weight of a substance.
